Our garden products range is situated in a building of it’s own with specially trained dedicated staff to advise you in making the right choice. Their wealth of knowledge in the industry will help you make those decisions like which lawn fertiliser to use, and when is the best time to apply it.
Having had so many of your favourite chemicals withdrawn from circulation due to legislation, our staff will be able to offer you the correct and suitable alternatives. We sell all your leading favourite brands and in many cases a cheaper alternative in which to try is you wish. This department is really brimming with gardening goods.
Garden Buildings
All the buildings are made with pressure treated timber and so will last for many years if looked after.
We have over twelve display models on show at Newbridge Nurseries and we can arrange a competitive assembly at your premises should it be required.
NEW this year is a range of treated softwood garden furniture for those looking for the more natural look. A swing seat, picnic bench and range of inexpensive arbours are just a few new items to be found in our Garden Landscaping section.
Garden Furniture
Our 2010 range of furniture addresses a very wide range of customer’s requirements. We have the beautiful teak hardwood from Neptune whose outstanding quality has been a trademark for many years.
We are very fortunate to have been able to purchase a considerable amount of real quality teak furniture from Neptune which will enable us to be able to offer our customers some considerable savings this year.
Cane Furniture
This year comes exclusively from Daro who’s service, reliability and quality is proving very popular with our customers. With most of the orders from their very wide range of cane furniture being specially ordered for each individual customer, a reliable delivery date is imperative. We and our customers have not been disappointed this year.
Hanging Baskets
HANGING BASKETS covers a huge range of sizes and materials. Tradition wire and forged steel baskets , window boxes and mangers and plenty of replacement liners , are all available along with a wide range of decorative rattan hanging baskets which being polythene lined do away with the need for a liner. These are available either in a traditional shape, or as a more contemporary cone, or hexagon with a flat bottom which makes planting a lot easier. Traditional moss baskets are still made up by some customers and we always have fresh moss available for those requiring it.
Our own nursery plants up many thousands of different styles and sizes of hanging baskets each year with many made to our own exclusive recipes. A wide choice of species, that are reliable, colourful and easy to grow and with our experts always on hand for those wanting advice on the best species for a particular position of their hanging basket.
Gas Barbecues
Whatever the weather, the British public love a barbecue, and an excuse for a garden party. At Newbridge we offer what we think is the complete range of barbecues and accessories for the discerning customer.
With many gas and charcoal models on show from some of the leading manufacturers, there is something for everyone.
Outback are still the UK leading supplier of barbecues, and have this year included free covers and regulators in many of their models.
Leisuregrow provide a wide range of gas barbecues to suit all sizes. Their innovative design and quality build will provide you with a barbecue to last for many years at a price that is affordable when compared with many comparable models. All their models will come this year with a free cover and regulator making their barbecues certainly one to consider.
Weber have been synonymous for many years with quality and reliability. The new Q series of gas barbecues has had further improvements this year, making them certainly one to consider for those looking for compactness, portability and quality. Their range of charcoal kettle barbecues has changed little over the years due to their popularity. From the USA , Weber continue to lead the way in this field.
Water Features
A small range of reliable water features is offered at the garden centre. For those looking to hear the fall of water in their garden, they will find some interesting designs that are easy to install.
Grow Your Own
We offer our customers the widest range of vegetable plants available between April and June. Sourcing new varieties from specialist growers and our own nursery gives our customers a superb choice for those wanting to “grow your own” this year.
Last year we introduced our “Veg Tables” for those customers who either found working near to the ground difficult or simply wanted to bring their vegetable growing onto the patio and nearer the kitchen. They were a great success and also made a very worth while present for the keen gardener.
This year we have seen numerous additions to our “grow your own range” from many suppliers and with the addition of a new Walk-In Polytunnel at only £99, it means you can now extend the season even longer.
Tools
TOOLS are something every Garden Centre will have, but at Newbridge we choose our range very carefully. The budget range from Gardman has all the attributes of a more expensive tool but a price tag to please. Ergonomically designed handles, lightweight to use, yet strong and with soft non slip grips. Fiskars has recently been rebranded after being known as Wilkinson Sword for many years.
Their reliability and quality is outstanding, and their stainless steel range has been our best seller for many years. Wolf Tools from Germany are well known throughout the industry and have been the market leaders for the interchangeable head system which is used by many gardeners today. This space saving simple device is very effective and reliable for those not wishing to purchase a new handle each time.
They can also make great presents, if you know the system is being used by someone. We are also stockists for Felco, the brand of secateurs that the professionals prefer.

Seeds
SEEDS from Unwins and Mr. Fothergills have been our leading brands for many years and with the new “Gro-Sure” range from Unwins, commercial technology is now available to the gardening enthusiast.
Propergation
PROPERGATION includes seed trays, cell trays, propagators and pots, which are now recyclable from Stewarts. With many years experience on our commercial nursery told me that good quality seed, clean trays, the correct seeding compost and using vermiculite to cover the finer seeds always gave the best results.
Peat pots are coming back into fashion as they can be planted directly into the ground allowing the roots to penetrate the pot walls easily before establishing themselves in the ground, and doing away with the unwanted pots, that nobody seems to want. Just remember to make sure you plant them deep enough and below the surface which will prevent then drying out.

Gifts and more recently KITCHEN WARE can provide you with that perfect present without all the time and effort and parking in the town.
Clothing
CLOTHING is supplied by a range of manufacturers for all ages. Tayberry provide us with a wide range of adult clothes to suit the seasons at very reasonable prices. Children are well catered for with colourful, practical items that are made to withstand the force often borne upon it.
Our range of footware covers a huge range, with wellingtons in many designs and from numerous manufacturers, booties, cloggies and even slippers and summer shoes at certain times. Gloves, both gardening and winter designs are available to suit all requirements. Colourful, practical gardening gloves to fit all sizes and tasks are in abundance.
Lawn Treatments
LAWN TREATMENTS make up a large section of this department with all your favourite treatments from Scotts and Westland. These two companies are certainly leading the way in this field with a wide range of Weed, Feed and Mosskillers.
We also sell a good range of spreaders and equipment to help you keep your lawn looking good. Flymo’s electric scarifier will certainly make light work of a larger area which is covered in moss, allowing the grasses to thrive and recover easily. The range of lawn treatments is very wide and expanding each year which is why the offer of free advice is always available.
Compost
Compost sold at Newbridge is taken very seriously. My experience as a grower for over 30 years on our nursery has made me aware how important it is to give your plants the best possible start.
Unfortunately for many years many consumers have always bought their compost on price looking for “the best possible deal”. Here at Newbridge, the compost is often trialled at our nursery before it is stocked. Many things are considered, and the consistency and reliability are very important because if mistakes are made at the manufacturing end, the costs can be devastating to you.
We always buy our compost from reliable companies who's reputation is at stake with every bag that is sold. ERIN and BULRUSH have their own peat bogs in Northern Ireland, where it has been traditionally harvested for horticulture for many years. I have been fortunate to have visited these bogs seeing both new and old harvested areas returned to their former beauty.
Manufacturers are now having to consider reducing their levels of peat used, because of government legislation, and with many recent wet summers has meant stocks can be very short at times. I am pleased to be able to offer our own Multi-Purpose compost now with new packaging for 2010 and with the same consistency reliability and price to when we first launched it over two years ago.
We also offer a wide range of peat free composts from YHS and the Which Gardening Winners “New Horizon Range” from J Arthur Bowers. We realise the demand for peat-free composts increases each year with our sales now accounting for over 20% of our total compost sales which is considerably higher than most of our competitors.
Home Decor
HOME DECOR covers a very wide range of products for the home. Our range of Gifts is constantly changing and this is one of our fastest growing departments in the Garden Centre. Our staff who are responsible for selecting the ranges are very aware of the need to address a very wide range of tastes and prices. Our Kitchenware department can provide you with the perfect present for that difficult person to buy for who prefer to have something more “useful”.
Christmas
CHRISTMAS at Newbridge is something special. Customers are now visiting us from many miles around to see our Christmas Display which we have strived each year to improve. Whether you are looking for lighting, animation, quality decorations or the more real traditional Christmas fair you will find a fantastic selection at Newbridge.
Our Santa’s grotto receives many wonderful comments from all who visit it because a great deal of time goes into the planning each year. All the monies we receive goes to our chosen charity and with the help of Billingshurst Rotary Club it becomes more popular each year.
