TGB Garden Buildings

Newbridge Nurseries now supply a range of fantastic garden buidings. We are delighted to have secured exclusively the sales of TGB garden buildings throughout West Sussex. Their range consists of anything from a simple shed to a beautiful summer house. You can view the range in our Garden Centre NOW!

All constructed in their Yorkshire workshops they have certainly made a big impression on our customers already.

One customer commented to me personally that they had been looking throughout Sussex for a summerhouse that didn’t cost the earth. He was so pleased with the quality of the TGB building , so he purchased a garden shed to match.
Available in either brown or red wood finishes, delivery usually takes only a couple of weeks, with the smaller buildings often available from stock.

TGB will also manufacture customers own special sizes for a minimal supplement, something that many of the larger companies will not entertain.
All the buildings are made with pressure treated timber and so will last for many years if looked after.

We have over twelve display models on show at Newbridge Nurseries and we can arrange a competitive assembly at your premises should it be required. (picture 1)

NEW this year is a range of treated softwood garden furniture for those looking for the more natural look. A swing seat, picnic bench and range of inexpensive arbours are just a few new items to be found in our Garden Landscaping section.

Garden Furniture

From Nova, Alexander Rose and Hartman and Neptune make up our garden furniture display. New designs from all four companies make this years display our most innovative ever.

With over 40 complete sets on display from only £99 to over £3000 for a huge 12 seated all weather rattan set which does include a huge parasol worth over £500.

Beautiful hardwood sets made in Mahogany, Iroko and Teak to suit every size, shape and budget. All timber is sourced from managed forests and made by craftsman to last for many years. Their workmanship is undisputed and every item comes with a long guarantee.

Our all weather rattan garden furniture can be left outside unprotected, with no more than a warm soapy wash at the beginning of the year, to remove any debris. Built on strong aluminium frames distinguishes it from cheaper imitations that are sure to appear. The material if guaranteed against fading and the chairs can be set around a wooden table (which was our best seller last year) for a great effect and for those not wanting to purchase a glass topped table.

Cane Furniture

From MGM. Quality, Reliability, and Price. Three very important factors when choosing Conservatory or Cane Furniture. Customers orders are specially made to their own requirements and even with this individual service orders usually take no more than a couple of weeks. We do however stock some popular styles at certain times of the year

Gas Barbecues

From Sterling and Broil King which are superbly made in Canada. Their quality and affordable price make them a great addition to the popular models from Outback and Webber models which have been very successful for us for many years.

Grow Your Own

With more people becoming more concsious about organic food, growing your own vegetables has seen huge increases over recent years. Nothing beats the flavour and satisfaction of tasting those early potatoes or picking those first peas. For years, keen gardeners have had allotments which can be a drive away from your home and the demand for these allotments is easily out stripping supply.

Grow your own Vegetables

The huge increased demand for growing your own vegetables is not from the allotment gardeners, but from the new gardeners that are keen to learn and want to grow them in their own back garden again, a bit like my father did forty years ago.

The supermarkets made buying vegetables easy and convenient and so the expertise was lost by the younger generation who now have families and are now keen to provide them again with a fresher more healthy option.

The demand for SEED POTATOES, ONION SETS and SHALLOTTS early in the year have grown ten fold with many looking now for GARLIC and ASPARAGUS as they become more adventurous.

Grow Your Own VegetablesLETTUCE, BROAD BEANS and CABBAGE plants are available from march as plants with TOMATO plants a must in April if you have a greenhouse or May if you have to plant them outside. Choose a sunny spot for all your vegetables as this will cut down the growing time and that sunshine will make them just that little bit sweeter.

The demand for VEGETABLE seeds outstripped flower seeds a couple of years ago as we demanded a greater choice of more unusual varieties. CARROTTS and RADDISHES germinate quickly once the soil warms up.

Preparation is all important when sowing vegetables. Apply a good Organic Fertiliser like Blood, Fish and Bone before sowing and preparing a good tilth before using a garden line will give you a nice straight line.

Draw out a shallow trough with the corner of a draw hoe and sow the seed thinly otherwise you will need to thin the seedlings once germinated.

Remember if the seedlings are too crowded they will compete for the same piece of good soil and the quality and size will be dramatically effected.

Many vegetables like RUNNER and FRENCH BEANS are best sown in a cell tray, or bought as plants which allows them to establish themselves before planting out.

F1 CUCUMBERS are only female and are easier to grow because they do not need to be pollinated like the old telegraph varieties. They produce a huge quantity of cucumbers if given enough food as the grow bags will need feeding after a few weeks. The only draw back is that they prefer the shelter of a greenhouse and like it warm to be at their best.

RIDGE CUCUMBERS can be planted outside. Easily recognisable by their prickly skin and like CORGETTES and MARROWS are best picked while small to get the best flavour.

Look out for pests and diseases, everyone likes to grow organically but this can be harder if the summer weather doesn’t help. There are many organic friendly options on the shelves that will help against greenfly and slugs without harming the natural predators like ladybirds.

Pests are usually harder to control in a greenhouse as this provides the optimum breeding grounds, but planting the old fashioned marigolds amongst your tomatoes and cucumbers can sometimes help.

Finding an area in your garden to grow vegetables is not always easy and if not looked after it can easily become untidy and overgrown.

Raised beds using WOODEN SLEEPERS is a good way of incorporating new soil into a well trodden lawn area. Remove the grass first with a spade or spraying with a fast acting weed killer if you prefer, before filling up the area with fresh soil. Try not to use too much organic matter as this will make the vegetables too leafy, but a good loam will add substance to the bed hopefully with very little weed.

Exclusive NEW Veg TablesOur NEW VEG TABLES are another option that is proving a big success for those wanting to raise the vegetables off the ground even further. I deal for lettuces and compact varieties like TOMATO TUMBLER which will trail over the side keeping them off the soil and so disease free. This variety is also good for containers and pots.

There are many vegetable varieties that have been bred especially for pots and containers.

Our NEW POTATO and VEGATABLE SAC is a bag of compost especially developed to grow vegetables without much of the hard work. Visit the Garden centre and see the range for yourself.

Compost

Has seen some dramatic changes over the past few years. The implication of compost manufactures having to reduce their peat usage has left them with little alternative than to find suitable substitutes to incorporate into their mixes.
Commercial growers have been adding these alternatives for many years to help improve things like structure, water retention and stability.

Bulrush have been leading the field for commercial growers for many years and so incorporating these additives into a retail compost was of little problem. Trials and research and development have been done and the result of their latest additive FOREST GOLD has been outstanding. Our own nursery has also been very pleased with the results that they too have obtained.

FOREST GOLD is a wood fibre additive that has been impregnated with fertiliser allowing the plant to use these fertilizers when necessary. This results is a slower release as and when the plant requires feeding. The FOREST GOLD will have the appearance of roots in the compost which does cause some concern for some customers initially, but it prevents the compost from compacting allowing air to circulate more freely.

At Newbridge our range of composts that include FOREST GOLD is very comprehensive whether you are looking for an Ericaceous, Hanging Basket or

Multi-Purpose compost. Available in either 60L or 20L sizes you will find it is also lighter making it a lot easier to handle.

Bulrush Forest Gold in the Garden Centre

Many more organic PEAT FREE COMPOSTS have been added to our range as we feel confident after doing our own nursery trials. YHS has been developing their new range of composts and have resulted in producing a very cost effective Ericaceous, Multi-Purpose, Soil Conditioner and Grow Bag, which is also available in either 60L or 35L sizes.

YHS Compost in the Garden Centre

As growers compost selection is the start of producing good plants, we feel that all the compost we sell in the garden centre has our complete confidence to do this and at no time will we substitute quality for a cheaper alternative.
